Welcome to BRANCHES, a vibrant section of our nonprofit ( in application status) farmstead dedicated to fostering community engagement and support for adults and children with disabilities. Branches is a nurturing environment where individuals can grow, connect, and contribute.
Participants can engage in various community service projects that promote teamwork and skill development. From planting and maintaining our gardens, visiting nursing homes and group homes, and helping with home repairs after tragedies, to crafting handmade goods for local charities and the farmer's markets. Branches encourage hands-on experiences that empower individuals to make a difference.
Our farmstead space features shaded seating areas and areas for rest, prayers, and play, ensuring that everyone can participate comfortably. Workshops, retreats, and group activities led by volunteers help cultivate skills such as gardening, cooking, wellness, spiritual growth, and arts and crafts while fostering friendships and a sense of belonging.
At The Good Ground Farm, we believe that every individual has the potential to impact their community positively. By participating in service projects, our members not only develop valuable life skills but also experience the joy of giving back, strengthening the bonds of community and compassion.
Join us for one of our Branches events, where we cultivate possibilities!

What: This 106 bed nursing home is in the middle of Swannanoa which was devastated by Hurricane Helene. The nursing home does not have city power or water. They are receiving some supplies but benefit most from visitors and caring souls to spend one on one time with the residents. We have brought painting supplies, music, decorations, sugar free snacks and drinks, therapy dog, and babies/toddlers and spent hours making a cheerful environment in their activity room and then visiting those that can't make it out of bed. Their favorite activities are arts and crafts( painting) and music. For larger events, day and time has to be cooordinated with their activities director. For small groups visiting one on one with residents- this can be drop in.

What: In the heart of Swannanoa sits a wonderful school, Asheville Christian Academy.
"Our school community has been struck by a devastating flood from Hurricane Helene, causing widespread and catastrophic damage across our entire campus. We are working to assess the loss and begin recovery efforts.
We are actively working with contractors and assessors to get a clearer picture of the total scope of the damage, but the financial gap is daunting. At this point, much remains uncertain, but what is clear is that we will need additional resources to bridge the gap. We are grateful to ServiceMaster Recovery Management for being on the ground since the day after the storm to help us clean out the mud and begin cataloging the damage. Initially, we are cutting out drywall and drying out buildings. See below for details of how you can help!"
As we begin to get our feet back under us, we will be able to organize volunteers, supply drives, and more. Complete the form linked on website to indicate your interest."

URGENT NEEDS and WHERE TO DONATE:
UPDATED: 10/12
Words cannot express our gratitude for the much-needed support we have received. Your generosity has moved us to tears. To say our staff is exhausted is an understatement. Please give us time to rest, be with our families in the evenings and on the Sabbath, and get organized for the long road back. We will work with you if you absolutely cannot make it before 4:30 pm or can only come on Sunday. We have the most amazing, generous, giving staff, many of whom have experienced tremendous loss themselves, yet are on campus supporting the kids in our care. We want to care for them as we all begin to see recovery as the long marathon it will be. With hearts full of love and appreciation - thank you!
